1. Vehicle Name: Long Distance Rigid Truck
Vehicle Information: Long Distance rigid vehicles normally have cabs that are equal in size to many full size articulated trucks. They are designed for traveling mostly on motorways over great distances; they have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) up to 32 tones. Used by operators who don't require a full size truck or for those who have to visit places an articulated vehicle might find difficult.
Driving Licence needed: LGV Category C
How to:
Start > Receive an Application and Medical Form from LLOYDS
Medical with GP
Send Forms to DVLA
Wait for Provisional Licence to Return
Train for Theory with LLOYDS School
Pass Theory Test
Book a 5 day Driver Training Course
Finish > Take your Test on 6th Day

2. Vehicle Name: Long Distance Articulated Truck
Vehicle Information: Mostly seen tramping along the motorways and often into other European countries on long distance international haulage. These trucks usually pull maximum length 13.6 metre trailers of various types - Boxes, Curtainsiders, Flats and Container Skeletals to name only a few.
Driving Licence needed: LGV Category C+E
How to:
- Having passed the LGV Category C driving test and had your new Driving Licence returned by the DVLA its a simple matter of booking a driving training course usually 4 to 5 days training including the test.
- You don't need to take another Theory Test.
- Pass the driving test and you can legally drive any size LGV truck.

3. Vehicle Name: Small rigid truck/large van over 3.5 tons
Vehicle Information: C1 vehicles otherwise known as a 7.5 toner but can be anything between 3.5 and 7.5 ton Gross Vehicle Weight. Any driver that passed their test before 1997 automatically has a C1 licence and will not need to pass this additional test. Such vehicles may be used to transport light goods within a local area and used in wide variety of applications such as house removals, parcel delivery, horse transport to name just a few.
Driving Licence needed: LGV Category C1

- First you will need to have a full valid car licence (passed 1997 onwards)
